Welcome to GLOBAL APRI
The company was established with a focus towards addressing pastoralist livelihood systems, livestock production, value addition and natural resource management challenges in the drylands (i.e. pasture, water and lands).
Since 2015, the Company has operated in those contexts where income, social stability and food are closely interlinked with seasonal mobility and agricultural productivity. Consequent to a progressive loss of access to lands, pastoralists have been forced within limited space. This has resulted in land degradation, occasional conflicts over natural resources and diminishing of productivity.
All these effects, associated with a positive demographic growth, increase pressure on the already over exploited natural resources in the arid areas of the world and contribute to the erosion of the coping strategies traditionally put in place by pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities to overcome shocks.
Our mission
The connotation of our work originates from the understanding that most pastoral societies and groups are progressively loosing capacity to remain in open areas and to rely on alternative and innovative models for economic development, job creation and private sector investments.
APRI Group strives to bring the most comprehensive expertise on pastoralist and agro-pastoralist systems into quality applied research, studies and innovative approaches to inform policy, programs and practices to increase and mitigate the risk for communities characterized by high level of stresses and recurrent shocks.
The group is specialized in linking risk analysis and mitigation strategies to the African development agenda to achieve context-specific intervention designs, dedicated toward resilience building and investment for the economic growth in marginalized areas.

Global APRI occupies a unique place in the panorama of development experts through its inter-disciplinary focus on the relationship between Research, policy and practice. We do this by locking together applied research, studies, and innovative approaches to service delivery and investment in agro-pastoral, pastoral areas and livestock-dependent communities in arid and semi-arid lands. The group is specialized by its peculiar knowledge in conflict prone areas and fragile states.
The Company is registered in Kenya and Uganda. It however, works with partners in the public and private sectors, in both Africa and Middle East countries.
